The Yoga Meditation

When the mind has become pure the chances of its being ruffled by external disturbances are greatly reduced. At such a stage the yogin takes a firm posture (asana) and fixes his mind on any object he chooses. It is, however, preferable that he should fix it on Ishvara, for in that case Ishvara being pleased removes many of the obstacles in his path, and it becomes easier for him to attain success. Kaula Dharma

Object of Sadhana

The object of all sadhana is the stimulation of the sattvaguna. When by such sadhana this guna largely preponderates, the sattvika sadhana suitable for men of a high type of divyabhava is adopted. Dhairya - Pratyahara

Dhairya, or steadiness, is produced by pratyahara. Pratyahara, is the restraint of the senses, the freeing of the mind from all distractions, and the keeping of it under the control of the Atma. The mind is withdrawn from whatsoever direction it may tend by the dominant and directing Self. Pratyahara destroys the six sins. (1)

The S’aradatilaka defines pratyahara as indriyanam vicaratam visayesu baladaharanam tebhyah Pratyaharo vidhiyate (pratyahara is known as the forcible abstraction of the senses wandering over their objects).
