Customer Review: Incredible
I am an Early Childhood professional and bought this CD for the teachers I train to use at nap time. I first tried it out on my 10 year old son who had been having a lot of trouble sleeping since his father died. Two nights in a row he fell asleep within 10 minutes he was fast asleep. Even my teenage daughter found the CD relaxing. I can not wait to introduce it to the teachers and parents I work with! Please make more!
Customer Review: Not Suitable for Boys 8 and Over
All my 10 year old did was roll his eyes and laugh, "This is baby stuff" I feel like the other reviews I read were made up by the author's friends. He also pointed out that crabs don't weave seaweed. This is really only appropriate for preschoolers.

Customer Review: Great CD
I bought this CD for use as a relaxation activity in an early childhood classroom for 3 to 5 year old children and it's wonderful. If I could give it more stars, it would have 10! This would be great for your child to listen to at night to help them wind down for bedtime, or in the afternoon for a rest time activity, and it's great for the classroom. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Great for my 3 yr old!!
I have an especially bright but anxious 3 1/2 yr old. I wasn't sure whe was going to take to this cd even after I listened to it. But she LOVES it and goes to sleep every night listening to it! I am thinking of making a copy for my 9 month old to listen to in our room as well.. the voice is so soothing and maybe she will like it as too!

Customer Review: Lots of fun
My son loves this DVD, it is funny, maybe not the fully relax yoga, but of course is made for kids and that is how they learn better: having fun. Nice songs and they have kids from 3 to 6, which is good for my […] to watch that not all the kids make the excercises perfectly. I will say worth the money
Customer Review: Fun for active little ones
I had Yoga Kids on video tape for my older kids & they enjoyed it a lot, so I got this one for my toddler. He loves it! He tries to follow along & do the yoga (it's so funny). There are some "classic" yoga poses modified for little ones and some exercizes that are mostly movement and using imagination rather than poses. The teacher is very fun (looks like she's having fun) and warm and has a kind voice.

AM/PM Yoga for Beginners
This yoga set is perfect for busy people who need to work in a way to relax. On the a.m. tape, Rodney Yee takes you through a 15-minute morning yoga set, while Patricia Walden leads a 20-minute evening routine on the p.m. tape. The a.m. tape was filmed on a beach on Maui at sunrise, providing a soothing background for this gentle workout. In the morning, Rodney tells us, "the body is rested but stiff from inactivity." The stretches he demonstrates are designed to increase circulation, improve mobility, and bring clarity to your mind. The movements are easy to follow (they include a conscious relaxation, the a.m. workout, and a guided meditation), and the set is short enough that it can be squeezed into the most hectic of morning schedules. The p.m. video was filmed at sunset in Death Valley. Patricia's yoga set is designed to quiet the mind after the stress of the day and to help you make the transition from active to quiet. She uses a combination of a centering series, standing poses, forward bends, and restorative poses to help you ease into night. You will need some firm blankets to sit on and a yoga strap (although a belt or scarf will serve the same purpose) to perform these movements. Perfect for the beginner and for the overworked. –Jenny Brown

Customer Review: AM Yoga
When I cannot get to a Yoga class this short (20 minute) tape is very helpful. I was especially pleased to be able to get a VCR tape since I don't have a DVD player in my room. I like the AM Yoga, but found the PM Yoga tape too difficult for me.
Customer Review: Nice Videos, but . . .
These videos each have their strong points, and I've used and enjoy them both. The biggest flaw is that, as a set, they are so out of balance with each other. As other reviewers have mentioned, the A.M. video is substantially easier than the P.M., so folks who want a good workout dislike the first, and those who are a bit out of shape dislike the second. I use the A.M. when I feel like I need something easy and gentle, and when I lapse in practicing yoga for a while, this is invariably the tape I come back to, to get me going again. (I move on to the Yoga for Energy DVD in this Gaiam/Yoga Journal series, once I loosen up again, though.) The P.M. video just about killed me when I first tried it. However, the moment when all that vigorous stretching is finished, and you finally go into relaxation feels sooo good. (Like the old joke: "Why are you hitting yourself?""Because it feels so good when I stop!") So, I come back to this tape, when I have time in the afternoon. And I've improved enough so that the poses don't seem too difficult now, but they still push me to my limit before … […]

Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout
It was probably inevitable that Jane Fonda, who played such a defining role in the aerobics boom of the 1980s, would be on the yoga train as well when it started rolling in the 1990s. And on this tape (recorded in 1993), she does a good job of it. The focus is on the "sun salutation," a connected series of poses that builds strength, flexibility, and balance, and with repeated practice this offers what Fonda calls "an excellent full-body workout." The program is divided into three sections, any one of which can be practiced on its own. The first breaks down the various poses comprising the sun salute, while the second is devoted to several repetitions of the salute itself; three variations are offered, two incorporating some of Fonda's own techniques and one that's closer to the "classical" or "Series C" salutation. The final section (which might actually be a better place to prepare for your practice than to finish it) focuses on relaxation and breathing. Fonda's manner is brisk, but her instructions are clear and concise, and while the tape isn't especially difficult, it should prove challenging enough for beginners and most intermediates. –Kelly Welldon

I got this tape as a present for my birthday.I think it is a really good yoga tape.Jane Fonda really makes yoga fun and easy. This tape is ideal for experienced yoga people as it is for non-yoga people. Jane Fonda goes through every move very carefully.I felt really realxed and stretched out after this tape.It is real good stress reducing tape.It is really good for flexibility.Jane`s Sun Salutation routine really gets the flexibility going. After you are none with this tape you will feel great. It is actually one of my favorite yoga tapes.Really good for people who don`t know about yoga and want to start doing it.It is also good for people who do alot of stregth training and aerobics.I guarantee you`ll love this yoga routine.
Customer Review: An awesome intro to yoga - if only there was a DVD!
"Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" is one of the first exercise videos I bought, and it's still one of my favorites! Jane starts out with a 20-minute stretching/toning routine that consists of a number of different poses. Next, she focuses on the Sun Salutation and leads you through a 15-minute segment based on the one sequence. She starts with the easiest variation of the routine, and gradually increases the intensity. Experienced yoga practitioners can repeat Level 3 (the most difficult level) three times, while beginners can stick to Level 1 (the easiest level). Throughout the segment, she repeats her demonstration of the lower levels for newbies. Jane finishes with a 15-minute relaxation routine. While some people might enjoy this section the most, I generally skip it. Since beginning yoga, I've bought a number of other yoga instructionals, all on DVD; "Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" is the only VHS tape I own. As much as … […]

Customer Review: Best Style of Yoga for Beginners
Ana Brett & Ravi Singh are simply the best for anyone looking to start yoga. I had been too intimidated to go take a class and the other Yoga for Beginners DVD I found on Amazon was misleading. It was full of asanas too difficult and instructions were too fast. Plus it was just plain boring. Believe me, as a beginner, Kundalini Yoga is the best style of yoga to get you into a practice. You don't have to build up to difficult poses. It is all exercises you can already do and I promise you the effects are fast as well which keeps you going back for more! There are two 25 minute sets. One is more beginner the other is for any level and something to grow your practice with which makes it a great investment. The instructions are clear, the voices are soothing. The music is excellent and best of all, the workout is easy to follow and actually fun to do. It is all in all an incredible DVD and I can't recommend it hightly enough!
Customer Review: Inspirational
This is the most inspirational workout, unlike anything I have tried before. I have done various types of yoga, but never kundalini. I thoroughly enjoyed this form of yoga as well as the presentation. If you have purchased any type of exercise DVD before you will know that presentation is everything and an uninspiring video will never come back off the shelf. The voiceover is wonderfully relaxing and inpspirational and by the time you are finished with this workout you will be both relaxed and invigorated. I find myself bringing out this DVD often and I plan on getting more from this duo.

Customer Review: Barbara's Teaching Shines
I've been out of my yoga practice for about 5 yrs and found my old yoga videos were not clear enough in their instruction to get me started again. I was familiar with Barbara Benagh because a friend of mine back in Boston has taken classes at her studio for many years. Seeing Barbara as the instructor on the video gave me some assurance that it would be a good product. It most definitely is a fantastic video and I would recommend it highly not only to people interested in starting yoga, but also for people who have just not done yoga for awhile and want to get back into it. It is nice to be able to have Barbara teach me, thanks so much Barbara!

Prenatal Yoga With Shiva Rea
The best thing about this prenatal yoga program is that there is a model for each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches and exercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications for the second and third trimesters (they're even dressed in different colors for easy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have about the safety of certain moves–especially in that cumbersome final stage of pregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Rea and her assistants take viewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairs for support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child's pose, plank pose–all with the necessary adjustments. She winds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back–the traditional position–with the second-trimester woman on her side and the third on her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations, Rea has made a program with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through her entire pregnancy–and beyond, if she wishes. –Kimberly Heinrichs

Customer Review: Nice, relaxing stretching
A friend of mine loaned me this video and I just tried it out. I'm 13 weeks along so was able to do the first/second trimester poses. It's really a nice video. Shiva Rea's voice is soothing and relaxing. The video is calm and the movements flow into one another. All you need is a chair (any chair will do) to support you and you're on your way to making your body a better place for your baby and for its birth.
Customer Review: I LOVE this video!
I just got this video for Christmas and I immediately fell in love with it. I feel absolutely wonderful after doing the workout. It was challenging but there were no poses that I felt I couldn't do. I've been pregnant before so I was a little suspicious of what they'd have somebody in the third trimester try and pull off, but they've got a different woman doing the poses for each trimester and the third trimester woman was doing poses that I think were completely realistic. Shiva Rea's voice is calming and the music is soothing.

A.M. and P.M. Yoga for Beginners
A.M. Yoga for Beginners
“The morning is a precious time," says the narrator of A.M. Yoga for Beginners. "Just as the sun rises and falls, so do our natural rhythms. The morning is perfect time to open our bodies and center our minds." This 20-minute yoga practice with supple instructor Rodney Yee is the perfect way to start your day by energizing your body and calming your mind. Filmed on the beach at Maui at sunrise, the video starts with a 4-minute Conscious Relaxation focusing on breathing, then glides into a 14-minute series of yoga poses that are simultaneously relaxing and energizing. It ends with a 2-minute seated Guided Meditation to center your body and mind. Yee's instruction is detailed and gentle. The video is beautifully filmed: you watch the waves roll in as Yee demonstrates yoga poses on a sandy beach. The yoga practice awakens and stretches your muscles gently, leaving you balanced and focused. "Yoga is the foundation of my day," says Yee. "A few minutes in the morning will help give meaning to your day." –Joan Price
P.M. Yoga for Beginners
“The evening is the perfect time to calmly transition between being active and being quiet," says Patricia Walden, instructor of P.M. Yoga for Beginners. "One of the greatest gifts yoga has to offer is deep relaxation." This 20-minute program is designed to balance, calm, and revitalize you at the end of the day. It starts with centering poses: gentle stretches bringing awareness and quiet to your senses. Next are standing poses to release tension, increase circulation, expand the lungs, and help you breathe more deeply. Next, forward bends cool the body and bring quiet to the nervous system. The final restorative poses are so relaxing that you may fall asleep. Walden tells you not only how to do the poses, but what you should feel, and how to quiet your body and your mind. Instruction is soothing and explicit. Although this video is aimed at beginners, seldom are modifications given for the less flexible novice, so if any pose causes discomfort or seems impossible, don't push beyond your personal comfort level. The video was filmed on the windswept sands of Death Valley. –Joan Price

Customer Review: Gentle Yoga
I really like Rodney Yee and have a number of his DVD's. This is good, however, I would call it Gentle vs. Beginner. I use it when I feel like a quick, light, relaxing stretch. If you are looking for more of a workout I would recommend Yoga for Flexibility (30 minutes), Yoga for Strength (30 minutes) or Total Body Yoga (60 minutes).

This was recommended by a friend and I am glad he did. My wife and I each start our day with AM Yoga and it is wonderful.

Power Yoga - Total Body Workout
Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger. –Joan Price

Customer Review: Not for Beginners nor the Faint of Heart
This is a fun, fast paced yoga workout. One must know the poses and how to do them safely so this DVD is not for beginners. When I need a good butt-kicking I grab this workout. I have read reviews that complain of Rodney Yees ego however I do not agree. He appears as a confident master. It is fascinating to watch him work as yoga students know there is always room for improvement.
Customer Review: My favorite yoga DVD
I have been using this DVD for two years now, and after buying a number of others, I have to say this one is still my favorite. It is truly a total body workout, and with no other DVD do I feel so stretched and relaxed from head to toe, mind and body. This might not be the right choice for someone with no yoga experience at all. There is little in the way of suggestions for beginner modifications. But Yee's commentary is easy to follow and the workout, while challenging, is not terribly difficult. I highly recommend this!

Yoga for Stress Relief (With The Dalai Lama)
Yoga instructor Barbara Benagh has practiced and taught yoga for nearly 35 years. She discovered yoga while living in England and began teaching there. She moved to Boston and opened The Yoga Studio on Beacon Hill in 1980.
In addition to her local classes Barbara teaches yoga seminars throughout the US and internationally. She is a regular contributor of articles to Yoga Journal magazine. She has several audio CDs of live classes available as well as DVDs, the latest being Yoga for Beginners released by Body + Soul magazine, and Yoga for Stress Relief that includes a discussion on meditation from the Dalai Lama.
Barbara was kind enough to answer some questions from Amazon.com about this unique line of yoga DVDs.
How are these DVDs different from other yoga DVDs?
I was drawn to working with Bodywisdommedia because they produce DVDs they are interactive. Rather than a "one size fits all" single routine that is typical of most products, these DVDs offer choice, allowing the user to customize and change their yoga practice to suit their needs. No two persons are the same so the ability to change your practice - easing shoulder tension one day and an invigorating morning wake up the next - come as close as possible to allowing you to address your individual needs at home. Not only do people have different physical needs, but they have different time constraints as well. If you have only 20 minutes, there is a practice for you but there are longer practices as well (some as long as 90 minutes) that address the total body/mind connection. The sheer number of yoga sequences offered on each of these DVDs is a first. They are incredibly comprehensive.
How were you able to get the Dalai Lama involved?
This project dovetailed perfectly with the Dalai Lama's message that modern stress is one of the greatest obstacles to our mental happiness and physical wellbeing. Because we are long-time sincere practitioners, having a 30-minute lecture of the Dalai Lama teaching how to meditate on the Yoga for Stress Relief DVD was a perfect fit. Bodywisdommedia also has a broader relationship with the Office of Tibet and are releasing historic lectures with "A Path to Happiness" being the first one.
How will potential buyers of these DVDs know which one is right for them?
The titles are very indicative of what appears on the DVD and therefore a good guide. I really enjoyed making Yoga for Stress Relief because it is incredibly relevant. We strove to make the sequences accessible to as many people as possible, whether they are a beginner or long time practitioner. Yoga for Beginners is a great, non-threatening place to get started and includes lots of sound technique developed over my 30 years as a yoga teacher. Power Yoga for Every Body is a bit more challenging taking you from the beginning level and gradually progressing to much more demanding routines.

Customer Review: A Fun & Doable Yoga Workout
I love love love Ana Brett & Ravi Singhs DVD's. I purchased this along with their Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond and now I own every one of their titles. They are all different enough that you can alternate workouts and not have to worry about repeating yourself. In any one of their DVDs you know you are going to get it all done: stretching, ab work, de-tox, cardio, strength training, and peace of mind. This has 4 fun 20 minute sets plus two bonus meditations. The instruction is first rate and the music rocks! I know that yoga is supposed to mainly deal with the "inner" side of things but I swear this made my cellulite go away!! God Bless you Ana & Ravi!

Shiva Rea - Yoga Shakti
Comprehensive but user-friendly, reasonably challenging but accessible to a variety of levels, Yoga Shakti is inarguably one of the best yoga products on the market–no small achievement when one considers just how many of them there are. Instructor-creator Shiva Rea, a California-based yogi of considerable international renown, specializes in vinyasa yoga (a vinyasa is essentially a series of flowing, connected poses, incorporating breath and movement and cultivating heat, strength, flexibility, and balance). Four complete practices are presented, ranging in length from 42 to 85 minutes and including Basic Flow (for beginners), two more vigorous Solar Flow sequences, and a Lunar Flow sequence falling somewhere in the middle in terms of degree of difficulty; familiar poses like sun salutations, forward bends, lunges, twists, and inversions are featured, although Rea adds many of her own touches (such as the four "dancing warrior" sections, sun salutation variations designed for intermediate users and focusing on hips, backbends, and so on), and there are also sections devoted to pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. It's all good, but the principal innovation of Yoga Shakti is the "yoga matrix," which allows users to customize and program their own workouts, drawing on portions of any or all of the four sequences to create series of various lengths and levels of intricacy (some guidelines are suggested for the less experienced) and thus keep their practices fresh and evolving. One can also do the various workouts with or without the instruction audio track on (the Indian-New Age-flavored music is quite good, and usually unobtrusive), and there's even an entire second disc, containing interviews, additional instruction, travel footage (filming took place primarily in India and the Maldive Islands), and more. All in all, Yoga Shakti is most impressive. –Sam Graham

Customer Review: I am going to wear this DVD out!
This is surely my favorite yoga DVD (of course I haven't gotten a crack at "Fluid Power" yet!) I've had it for over 2 years and I've yet to tire of it. I'm sure prior reviews have cheered the freedom of designing your own practice with the "matrix" already, and I mostly agree. Like others I would prefer the freedom to switch up the placement of the elements, but this is really not a huge gripe. If I truly want to do backbends and shoulder openers before the Warrier Dances, I can reset the program before shavasana kicks in. I also appreciate the booklet accompanying the disc, as each flow segment is listed by name- but then accompanied by duration and description. This info obviously isn't up on the screen and it simplifies setting up the matrix. One gripe is that the flows are listed in the order they'd play straight through on the matrix, with no indication of which practice(s) they came from. It's easy enough to solve that yourself, though. My booklet's been put to good use!

Bryan Kest Power Yoga Complete Collection
Anyone wanting to get in shape like the stars need go no further than Bryan Kest's home-video workouts. Kest teaches wildly popular yoga classes in Santa Monica, California–so popular that stars like Rhea Perlman, David Duchovny, and Elisabeth Shue willingly sweat alongside the hoi polloi in Kest's packed, ancient loft studio. If you don't happen to be in the neighborhood, not to worry: Kest's yoga videos are nearly as good as being there. Volume 1, Energize, is a beginner-level class that nonetheless is smartly designed to provide challenges for all levels of users. Kest's Jersey-boy voice at first seems in contrast to the serene environment and inner-peace objectives, but it gradually becomes soothing and hypnotic in its own right. Stretches and strengthening moves are alternated with just enough repose to keep even first timers on track. After mastering Vol. 1, practitioners can go on to Volume 2, Tone, in which Kest turns up the intensity, holding a variety of twisting poses for long stretches of time. It's OK to take it easy, rest, or modify the routines to your ability, which is part of the reason the tape is so useful. You won't be turned off as a beginner-to-intermediate practitioner, but there's plenty of room to challenge yourself as an advanced athlete, too.
Volume 3, Sweat, is a slightly shorter version of the challenging class Kest teaches in person. There are still all the gentle, firm admonitions to listen to your body, not to feel competitive with anyone else in how you do the pose (and as long as you heed them, you'll do fine). But Kest combines the classic warm-ups and longer-hold poses with a rapid succession of sun salutes, which will be gratifying to the advanced yoga student, but may make a first timer feel as though he dropped in to a Rockettes rehearsal by mistake. But if you keep at it, the workout is very easy to follow, and Kest's gentle, gruff voice is so soothing you find yourself relaxing even as you're pushing your body to its limits. As long as you keep in mind his personal mantra–"If you're doing the best you can, you're doing this class perfectly"–you and Kest should have many satisfying years of workouts together. –Anne Hurley

Customer Review: OK DVD
I only tried the first portion of this DVD and I am an intermediate level. I've been doing yoga for 5 years, and I was trying to increase my yoga library at home. I read the reviews left here, and was very disappointed. Mostly due to the instructor. I did not like him at all. He was a bit too "creepy" for me, if that makes sense. The practice is decent, but I just couldn't get over the teacher. I much prefer Shiva Rea's Shakti Yoga and Fluid Yoga. I also really prefer the yoga matrixes, rather than this style of DVD. I ended up giving this DVD to a friend.
